The educational landscape has dramatically changed in recent years. Many families have been left intuitively knowing the institutional school path is not working for them and their children anymore, but wondering what to do about it. More families with young children entering schooling years are taking the courage to start homeschooling from the beginning, but asking where to start and wondering how to connect with others. Seasoned homeschool parents are looking for ways to be part of a learning community and find experiences and classes that match their children’s interests. Educational entrepreneurs are creating out-of-the-box approaches to learning and engagement. Moms are looking for others to collaborate teaching on a few subjects with which they struggle, others need occasional drop off learning pods.
Does any of this resonate with you?
Schoolhouse is a movement to connect, collaborate, support one another, celebrate diverse approaches, and flourish holistic and community driven education in our region of Contra Costa County. As our collective grows, so will this page and the resources available here.

Schoolhouse: The Village
It takes a village- this is ours.
At Schoolhouse – The Village, learning begins with wonder. Kids explore, imagine, and discover through real experiences—harvesting food from the garden, telling stories under the trees, and expressing ideas through art and play. Our mixed-age groups foster mentorship and collaboration, while families are active partners in the learning journey.
Come hear our story and imagine what’s possible when learning is rooted in community.
